Crossroads MX hosted the final round of the Stateline
Summer Series. They included a pit
bike race as a benefit for St Jude’s Children’s
Research Hospital on the MX track as well as a benefit 50/50 drawing with
additional prizes to be given away from the sponsors, Keoeners Red Bull, FMF,
Travco Motorsports of Olney, R & R Powersports of Effingham, Phyllis Blume
Photography, 751 Products, Napa Auto Parts of Louisville, O’Reilly Auto Parts
and Fisher Auto Parts of Effingham
Crossroads MX also put up a $2000 purse for the Open A & 250A classes. Lots of prizes were given away with a ticket drawing from the gate entrance.
The Pit bike race was held in the afternoon intermission. With 14 pit bikes going off the line, #125 Chloe Buerster pulled the hole shot. From that time on it was a race for the 1st Place Prize money of $100 sponsored by Koerner Distributor in Effingham. The fans crowded the fences as the race continued. By the 3rd lap it was Blake Miller in 1st and Marshall Stennett right on his tail waiting for a mistake. Blake held his line at the finish line corner and with just a little more speed, managed to hang on to it as they crossed the finish line. Congrats to Blake.
With a good showing of quads, the C class and Youth 300 started the days racing. In the 4-Wheel C class, Jeffery Agnew on a Suzuki and Galvin Roush on a Honda, came off the gate in the first moto with Agnew leading the first lap but by the end of the 2nd lap, Roush was in the lead and held on for the win. In the 2nd moto, the race start off the same with Agnew in the lead and this time, was able to keep it for the win and the overall.
Shelby Thompson was chasing down Nick Amerman in 3rd
position but in the 2nd moto, Amerman had problems and was pushing
his quad back to the pit, advancing Thompson
to the 3rd place moto win. In the 2nd moto, Amerman
came charging after Thompson and in the 2nd lap, he passed to gain
back the 3rd place with Thompson taking 4th moto win and 3rd overall.
In the 300 Youth Quad, Rex Goodwin and Tyler Devall chase each other through the back of the C class with Goodwin taking the win both motos and Devall 2nd.
The thunder roared as the Open A class getting ready for the gate to drop. With a $1000 purse on the line, they were ready to battle.
In the first moto, R & R Powersports sponsored rider Ted Rogers led the way around the track with Justin Freund and Dennis Dooley and Ryan Tracey waiting for a mistake. In the first moto, Tracey had problems and by the time he got the bike started, he was back in 9th place. Rogers held the lead until lap 5 when Freund made the pass for the lead with Rogers in 2nd. In the last lap Rogers didn’t know Dooley was right there until Dooley was right beside him and made the pass for the 2nd pl moto win and Rogers taking 3rd. In the 2nd moto, Rogers lead the pack until the 3rd lap when Freund passed to take the win and overall for the day. Dooley was having problems in the 2nd moto and ended up dropping out of the race. Ryan Tracey came back for the 2nd moto and finished 3rd place.
In the 250A
class, Tyler
Rickey led the first 2 laps of the first moto when he was passed by Justin
Freund who held on to take the moto win. James Garrett moved into 2nd
place in the forth lap and held it for the checkered flag and Rickey taking 3rd.
In the 2nd moto Scott Zont lead the way around the track for the first 3 laps when James Garrett made the pass for 1st position. Justin Freund charged up thru the pack running 3rd in the first four laps and was in the lead by the 6th lap and taking the win in the 8th lap and the overall.
The +50 class had a good turnout with 7 riders in their
class. In the first moto,
Chuck Nice (35)
led the race with Gerald Harrison in second place. Gary Shewart was able to pass
into 2nd by the last lap. Randy
Throwbridge got past Harrison in the 2nd lap to move into 3rd.
with Harrison taking 4th. In
the second moto, Nice again took the lead with Shewart in 2nd and
David Buckles moving into 3rd by the finish line.

Crossroads MX will hold their Appreciation Weekend on November 1,2. with free dinner on Sat night, a band and huge bon Fire. Games for the kids, trick or treaters and Halloween costume contest.
