Crossroads MX held it Season Opener April 18. Riders were anxious to check out all the new sections added to the track this spring as they plan to attend and race the Amateur Regional in June.
Riders noticed the wood chips in the corners, lots of drainage culverts and new topsoil. The whoops section was converted to a rhythm section, which made for some exciting racing throughout the day. A new bowl was added which racers were able to click the corner in 3rd gear. Another well-liked section was the rollers in the bottoms.
With a well stacked class in Open A, Dalton Forester lead the first 2 laps but as Tucker Thrower made his way through the pack, by the 3 lap Thrower lead the race to the finish. Ronnie Ford managed to get by Forester in the 4th lap giving him 2nd and Forester finished 3rd. In the 2nd moto, Forester again held the lead for 3 motos before Ford and Thrower got around him. Ford led the 4th moto but got a DNF which gave Thrower the win, Forester, 2nd and Ryan Smith 3rd. Thrower was also the overall winner in the 250A class.
Crossroads MX is gearing up for the LL Regional race in June and a Pro-AM in October, as well as 5 of the 10 race Illini Super Series with Factory contingency.
